PADLET

Padlet is a virtual wall, where users can express and share their ideas, thoughts, images and videos. It is a simple tool and easy to use. Posts can be written via mobiles, tablets, or the computers.

It can be used by students and teachers. It can make lessons more interesting. It can be used in all subjects. It can be used for summarizing information. With the Padlet, while teachers are switching to a new topic, they can share the subtitles of the subject or the important parts of the topic with the students.

HOT POTATOES

 Hot Potatoes is a tool for creating quizzes. It includes different applications for creating multiple-choice and short-answer questions (JQuiz), matching exercises (JMatch), ordering exercises (JMix), crossword (JCross) and gap-fill exercises (JCloze). It is an old educational tool. There are new versions like Kahoot and Quizlet. Teachers can prepare quizzes by using these tools. They are paperless and save time when grading assignments.

AUGMENTED REALITY

Augmented Reality (AR) brings elements of the virtual world into our real world.

AR is helping students achieve enhanced learning result through visualization and full immersion in subject matter. Instead of reading about theory in books, students can see and engage with these concepts in real-time. As a result, education becomes more accessible, mobile and fun.

Also, augmented reality is used for games. For example;

VIRTUAL REALITY (VR)

Virtual Reality (VR) is an interactive experience taking place within a simulated environment with a headset and motion tracking. This immersive environment can be similar to the real world or it can be fantastical. It is the creation of a virtual environment presented to our senses in such a way that we experience it as if we were really there.

It is most commonly used in entertainment applications such as gaming and 3D cinema. It can be used for medicine, architecture and education.

PREZI

Prezi is a web-based innovative tool for creating presentations. It can be used as an alternative to traditional slide making programs such as PowerPoint. It supports the use of text, images, and videos. It can be used as an interactively learning tool. Teachers can create a presentation that a bit more eye-catching and engaging.

Prezi is very popular in business and education.

GLOGSTER

    Glogster is a cloud-based platform for presentation and interactive learning. It allows users to mix all kinds of media on a virtual canvas to create multimedia posters, and access a library of engaging educational content created by students and educators worldwide. Glogster encourages interactive, collaborative education and digital literacy.

BLACKBOARD

Blackboard is a tool that allows faculty to add resources for students to access online. It helps teachers to share course materials as electronically and communicate with their students. The system can support all the activities of the courses given in the distance education, as well as enrich the courses given in the traditional campus environment with electronic content and activities. Blackboard users can easily access to the course content with their own username and password whenever they want.

WHAT IS VOKI?

Voki is speaking avatar. It was created to language learning and teaching. Voki is quite easy to use. You can download your tablet or mobile phone or you can use the website. Voki characters can be customized to look like historical figures, cartoons, animals, and even yourself! It provides entertaining and useful learning.

SOCRATIVE

Socrative is a free web application that offers an easy and friendly experience to teachers to engage and assess their students. There are three main features:

1- QUIZ: Teacher can create multiple choose, true or false and short answers quızzes. Then, they can save them.

2- EXIT TICKET: It is a quiz that is launched at the end of a lesson. It provides students an opportunity to demonstrate their mastery of content for the day.

3- SPACE RACE: It allows teachers to design a quiz so that either individual students or student teams can compete with another. The student or team who answers the most number of questions correctly, during the specified time frame, wins the race.

MOODLE

    

Moodle is a free online learning platform. It is used for distance education, flipped classroom and blended learning in schools. It allows teachers to create a private space online, filled with tools that easily create courses and activities. Educators can across all levels and industries with a highly functional, flexible and interoperable digital learning solution through open-source technology.

PIXTON

Pixton is a cartoon creation tool that allows its users to create awesome comics. Pixton has also a growing community that anyone can access to contribute with their own comics. This tool is very easy to use and does not require any artistic skills to work on it. You can introduce it to your students and let them create their own comics and share them with each other.

TRANSFORM YOUR TEXT INTO WORD CLOUDS!!


Word clouds show not only the words in the text sample, but also display the frequency of the words by showing often used words in a larger font. It lets you transform your text into word clouds. You can then save and share them, so everybody can find and enjoy them. I think it is really enjoyable and colourful :) Click here to see my word cloud.

                  

WHAT IS EDMODO?

      Edmodo is an educational network that aims at providing teachers with tools to help them connect and communicate with their students and parents. Via the Edmodo app or website, teachers can share content, texts, videos, homework and assignments with their students online. With your account, you can create groups and invite students and parents to join. In the groups, you can share resources, photos and articles, which will be seen by your students in a newsfeed format. You can also send and receive private messages and create folders, where students can upload assignments.
